The Yearbook 2020 is dedicated to the focus topic “actively shaping the digital state” – a hot topic within the discourse of the administrative science community: Digital transformation has found its way from the private sector into the public administration. Digitalization presents a multitude of opportunities for creating new services and interfaces and therefore leads to the possibility of launching innovative access to the public administration sector. However, these innovations must not be implemented aimlessly or haphazardly, since not only opportunities arise, but also risks associated with digitalization, most notably in the areas of data protection and data security.
The Yearbook 2020 presents research and practice articles dealing with the focus topic “shaping the digital state”. Aditionally, the “open track” section also offers room for further articles tackling other relevant topics within the area of administrative science.
